[challenge] fandom snowflake | days o1 - o5
day oo1.
in your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. it can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
- i really loved a pistol, pointed at me which is an arya stark assassin au. i tried to make it a modern au but still pay homage to the original and i think it worked out really well. plus i feel like it's some of my best writing.
- i really love this graphic of mine that i made on my hockey blog. it's pretty hard to make more complex graphics with fandoms that aren't tv/film/etc. but i wanted to give it a shot instead of just making a simple edit. and i loved how it turned out! plus, it's of my favorite player, so.
- love in action is another one of my favorites. it's a little gilmore girls ficlet that i did for a prompt meme. the dialogue just came to me and i could hear everything in luke and lorelai's voices, i could imagine all of it happening on the show so distinctly! it's one of the few times i've felt like a fic was really in character.
day oo2.
in your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.
- music recs! i'm always looking for new music to listen to. i love just about anything. except techno.
- book recs! i'm always looking for new things to read. i'm trying to get into nonfiction more, but any genre is welcome.
- feedback! i'd just love for everyone to try and leave for feedback for any fanworks they enjoy - fics, icons, vids, anything. i promise the author/artist will appreciate it!
day oo3.
in your own space, talk about your creative process - from what inspires you to what motivates you to how you manage to break through blocks. does your process change depending on the type of creating you're doing?
- i actually keep an inspiration blog! so, whenever i come across something that reminds me of a character or ship in a project i'm working on i post it on there so i can come back to it. with little ficlets and things i usually just randomly get a piece of dialogue in my head and write it down and sometimes come back to it and flesh it out. as for graphics, i do the same as above. if i see something i think is really beautiful i reblog it to my inspiration blog. i also randomly get ideas for graphics from songs or quotes sometimes so i'll just write it down and come back to it later. i also keep a "potential vids" playlist.
- as for blocks, well, i don't get through them. lol.
day oo4.
comment to someone you haven't ever interacted with before or introduce yourself to someone you've interacted with and friend/follow them.
- done and done! i always try to do this, but it slips my mind sometimes. this was a great reminder.
day oo5.
in your own space, talk about your fannish origin story. how did you come to fandom, why did you choose your fannish name, do you have more than one secret identity?
- my fandoms before i actually knew what fandom was were lizzie mcguire and gilmore girls, my two favorite shows from when i was in kindergarten. as for actually being a part of it, it would be h2o: just add water. i started watching this show when i was in about 6th grade and loved it so much. specifically, zane/rikki. i was looking for more episodes on youtube when i came across zane/rikki fanvids, though i had no idea that's what they were at the time. i created a youtube account and the rest was history.
- my parents had jobs that made it to where our family wasn't allowed to have our phone in the phone book, so, when making my youtube account, i used a fake name. which i ended up keeping and now consider my real name and use in everyday life, today. some fake name, huh?
