“You don’t have to do this, you know.” Harry’s voice was unusually subdued.

“You don’t understand,” Draco replied, his hands shaking as he attempted to fix his dress robes.

From the moment Draco had been capable of making his own decisions, his father had let him know he wasn’t allowed to. He wasn’t allowed to choose his own breakfast, let alone who he would marry.

He wished he was brave enough to stand up for himself and his own desires. But he wasn’t. He never would be.

“You should go,” he said, his heart splintering as he heard Harry leave.
