[challenge] fandom snowflake | days o6 - o10
day oo6.
as i actually wrote a fic on the sixth, i'm going to count that.
day oo7.
in your own space, share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. (more than one is okay, too.) tell us about it, tell us why you love it, give us some examples and recs.
character wise, i love characters who are intended to be "the bitch," or "the slut." those characters almost always turn out to be my favorites and most of the time are so much deeper than their archetype, but most viewers don't care enough to delve any deeper. chloe from my mad fat diary is one example. she's a lot more loved now (yay!) but during the first season she was utterly despised. i was seriously the only person i knew who loved her.
i'm also a huge fan of made families. the best example i can think of off the top of my head is leverage. oh! and speaking of leverage, i love when characters who are amoral (thieves, etc.) actually do these "bad" things in order to help people. ugh.
i also am a big fan of fight like a married couple, avengers assemble, aw they really do love each other, and you are better than you think you are.
as for fic my favorite trope has to be pretend relationship, in any format. i think it's the pining. and the angst? the angst, the angst, the angst. but always with a happy ending! angst with a happy ending fic is my fave of all fic. which is probably why pretend relationship is absolutely my number one fic trope. another one that is kind of related to this, friends with benefits. which also has all of the pining and angst and then the happy ending but with this one there's sex throughout and not just at the end.
some fake/pretend relationship recs:

day oo8.
please in now way feel obligated to do this, i'm really only even including it because of it's part of the challenge.
day oo9.
in your own space, talk about what surprises you about fandom. it could be a pairing or fandom you never thought you'd like. a fanwork type you never knew existed.
how big fandom is! i've really always felt like it was more of a secret, something you'll only ever admitted to being involved in if you knew the person you were speaking to was involved in it as well, but that isn't the case. fandom has gotten so mainstream recently, with hollywood and co. starting to use terms like shipping, it's incredible.
day o10.
stretch yourself a little and try something new. go play in a new fandom or with a new pairing. try working in a new medium. or check out some fanworks that are new to you.
i'm currently working on a clarke/raven fic right now, which is both a fandom and pairing i have never before written in. here's a snippet.
i also just started a new show yesterday, looking on hbo with jonathan groff. i love him so i think i'm gonna keep going with it, despite that all of the guys look the same and that is confusing to no end.
