[author rec] torakowalski
I've recently fallen in love. With torakowalski.
I'm a big fan of The Avengers and an even bigger fan of Clint/Coulson and torakowalski has written around 40 fics including them. And they're good. Actually, they're more than good, they're amazing. Which is why I've decided to rec this author and a few personal favorites of mine.
Been Looking at You Forever
Clint and Phil are friends. Friends who have sex. That’s all there is to it. Honestly.
This was actually one the first fic I ever read of torakowalski's and I'm so glad I did because FUCK BUDDIES. One of my favorite tropes of all time with one of my favorite ships of all time. Can it get any better? It can and it does because this fic also comes with a side does of Steve/Bucky as well as a friendship between Bucky and Clint. Also? All of this happens coincides with the throwing of a Tony/Pepper wedding. Beautiful.
All I've Got Left to Believe In
Clint Barton is not Peter Parker's big brother.
This is the second fic I ever read of torakowalski's and it has to be my favorite. I'm a sucker for high school AUs and this one does it so well. Plus, baby!Peter Parker. Baby!Peter Parker being foster bros with Clint Barton. Baby!Peter Parker looking up to foster bro Clint Barton. Baby!Peter Parker loooking up to foster bro Clint Barton's non boyfriend Phil Coulson! (I should clarify that Peter isn't actually a baby in this fic, he's middle school age but to me that feels like he's a baby.)
Just a Little Taste of Where I Came From
Steve stares at Thor. Then down at the children. It isn't that he doesn't understand what Thor is saying; it's just that he's sure that isn't possible.
"Are you saying that those kids are Coulson and Stark?" Natasha demands. Steve is so glad that someone other than him asked that question.
Thor nods encouragingly. "I am. Is that not a relief?"
"Um," Clint says. He sounds as though he's going to freak out any second. "No?"
I'm not usually one for fics with de-aging, I mean, I've read a few and they were cute but I've never liked one enough to actually rec it. This one was different. Not only does it stray away from the 'character A gets turned into a child and will only behave for character B plot' but it also has the children behaving like children. Coulson and Tony are the ones who are de-aged in this fic and Steve and Clint renegotiating the dynamics with each of them as children is extremely interesting, especially since Phil adores Steve and Tony detests him. It also gives a realistic look into what Tony's life must've been look like as a child. Great fic.
I'll Learn To Dance If You Promise Not To Laugh
A College AU in which there are long distance relationships, misunderstandings, and no one actually spends any time in college.
I don't like established relationship fics, but for some reason I enjoyed this one? I especially liked Phil being roommates with Jane and Darcy, as well as Natasha not approving of Phil at first. I love angst and this fic has a fair share of it which I think is what led me to keep reading despite not it being my usual cup of tea.
The recs I've just listed are some of torakowalski's longer ones, so here's a handful that are a bit shorter but still just as good.
Never Saying Goodbye
“When the Director told you I was dead, he thought I was. He didn’t know I’d decided to field-test the Life Model Decoys.”
Breathing In The Moment
One minute, Clint is stepping through the doorway into the lounge, the next Pepper’s voice says, “Oops,” from high above him, and Christmas explodes all over his head.
These Things Take Forever
“So, that happened,” Barton says, the end of the sentence disappearing into a disbelieving laugh.
