Stretch yourself a little and try something new. Go play in a new fandom or with a new pairing or trope. Try creating a different kind of fanwork.

In your own space, talk about what you think the future holds for fandom. What are your hopes and dreams for fandom? Do you have any predictions about what the next five years holds for fandom?

I think fandoms is going to continue to grow and evolve and become something even bigger and better than before. I also think that fandom is going to continue to become more and more public. Fandom is still viewed as this sort of secret, guilty pleasure thing, but that'sreally not the case. More and more people, such as show creators, cast members, authors, etc. are becoming aware of fandom things like shipping for example. Teen Wilf has even had fanfic and fanart contests. While its a good thing that fandom and the participators within it aregetting recognition, a part of me feels uneasy. I feel uneasy, and wary and anxious, because I know that for me, and for a lot of others, fandom is a safe place, an escape. If it becomes even more publiciSd the probability of that safe place d remaining narrows greatly. Plus, Im not naive enough to think that everyone will just accept it. Recently, for instance, an actress on a newly popular FOX show was shown a piece of fanart and commented, "that's weird." I immediately lost respect for the actress as in her profession she must realise her words have meaning and that she probably really hurt the creator of the piece. She's since show a different opinion in regarding fanart but that's probably because her manager and/or PR had something to say about the fans are what make or break her paycheck.

In your own space, talk about setting yourself a fannish goal. Big or small, it doesn't matter. Some great examples include: complete a bingo, sign-up for a Big Bang, write that fic you've been thinking about for years, podfic that story that you love, make a fanmix for your fandom, post that bit of meta or reclist you keep postponing. Maybe resolve to be better at leaving feedback, or answering comments.

In your own space, write a love letter. Write it Fandom in general, to a particular fandom, to a trope, a relationship, a character, or to your flist. Share your love and squee as loud as you want to.

Dear Everyone on Twitter,

I love you. You're some of the best, most wonderful, amazing, beautiful people I have ever met and I am so grateful I've been given the chance to know you. You're constantly there to provide a laugh, a helping hand, a hug, a shoulder to cry on, or a slap upside the head if needed. I love this sense of community we've all established together and I wish we all lived together on some little island somewhere (though on second though, that would probably be a terrible idea). Regardless, I love you. Thank you for being...you. ❤
